Queen Camilla’s TV show debut nearly happened in the US before Meghan Markle made her comeback to acting.

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly in talks to star in Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix show, The Gentleman. However, there is plenty confusion about where the deal is headed.

In the meantime, King Charles’s wife was being considered to appear on an episode of Only Murders in the Building, as showrunner revealed rare details in the latest interview with the Vulture.

John Hoffman, the executive producer and showrunner, did not know that he could have royalty in the upcoming sixth season, which takes place primarily in London.

“We almost got Camilla,” Hoffman said. “I know it’s insane, but yes, there was a moment.”

While the plot idea remains undisclosed, John was told by the casting team despite it being a possibility, there were some set terms and conditions that had to be followed.

“I was like, ‘Wait, what? Is that real?” he laughed. “Then we kind of went down the road a little bit.”

He noted that it was due to the strict U.K. union rules limiting daily shooting to “ten-hour days” only. Moreover, there could have been production delays if the schedules had to align for Camilla to be on set.

“I did pursue it a little bit, until I realised it’s going to be a whole thing,” he said.

When asked about Meghan's possible appearance, gave a tongue-in-cheek response but did not rule out roping her in for a future role.

“When is she travelling? We’re leaving in three days.”
