Ex-Prince Andrew causes ‘serious' breach of protocol at Buckingham Palace

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor nearly drove a wedge between the royal family and one of the most beloved figures in Britain over a careless blunder.

The monarch is very fond of Sir David Beckham, who is not only the ambassador for the King’s Foundation, but finally received his knighthood last year from Charles.

However, few years ago, Andrew’s one act had left Charles and other senior members in rage after a birthday invitation was extended to the ex-prince, according to the Daily Mail's editor-at-large, Alison Boshoff.

David was celebrating his daughter’s Harper’s sixth birthday and a palace insider had said that it was a “serious breach of protocol”. He had shared photos from the day.

A Palace insider reportedly described the posts as a "serious breach of protocol". The source claimed,

“Prince Charles is apparently seismic with rage and this will only deepen his feud with Prince Andrew,” a source had said at the time in 2017. “Photos are absolutely not allowed in the Buckingham Palace quadrangle.”

They also added that Prince William was not amused.

There was extreme backlash on the Beckhams as questions were raised over why the Palace was being used for a private birthday party. It was later revealed that Andrew had the party at his private apartment followed by an invitation from ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

Fergie “got away with” it because Elizabeth II was in Balmoral. And the very next day, David had cleared the air noting that the Palace wasn’t opened exclusively for Harper's birthday celebrations.
