Hunter Biden opened up about his father, former President Joe Biden, experiencing major pain as his prostate cancer has spread to his bones, calling the situation “really sad to watch.”

While talking to the BBC on Friday, August 7, Hunter Biden grew emotional while discussing his father’s health condition.

Hunter Biden said: “The cancer has spread, metastasised into his bones and further. It’s very painful, and it’s very debilitating in many respects, but he’s still out there, and he’s still doing his thing.”

Prostate cancer was discovered in the former president in May 2025, which is less than four months since leaving office. He was given hormone therapy as well as radiation treatments. In September 2025, the Biden family revealed that he finished radiation treatments, although further care for cancer treatment was uncertain.

“I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good. He is our rock. He has been there for each one of us in a way that is hard for me to even possibly articulate and explain,” he added.

Biden, who is currently 82 years old and had become the oldest president ever at the age of 78 when he took office, has continued being active since his retirement from politics. The former president will be publishing his book titled "Promise Me, America" following the conclusion of the midterm elections.

The youngest Biden, Hunter, talked about the comprehensive pardon that his father had issued to him in December 2024, which pertained to the convictions for firearms and tax crimes. Although he called it "not fair" and "for good reasons easily critiqued," he was very grateful for the gesture.

In June, Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, revealed that her husband would “live with cancer till the rest of his life” given the metastasis to his bones.
