Taylor Farms recalls salsa, guacamole over Salmonella contamination fears

Taylor Farms has issued a recall for salsa and guacamole products due to fears of Salmonella infection, after the company was linked to cyclosporiasis outbreak last month.

The fresh food producer issued a statement on Sunday, August 9, confirming that it is recalling 12 prepared food products containing jalapenos from its retail stores, amid fears of Salmonella risks.

This recall comes after a week; reports linked the company to a cyclosporiasis outbreak for salsa, guacamole and other items over Salmonella risks.

Salmonella is labelled as a bacterium that can cause acute food poisoning.

The company issued a statement, and said, it was issuing a voluntary recall of jalapeno products after being notified that Coast Citrus Distributors is recalling fresh jalapenos over potential Salmonella fear.

"Taylor Fresh Foods is no longer sourcing products from this farmer and will be filling orders from alternative suppliers," the company statement read.

The company added, the U.S. premium health agencies, the FDA and the CDC are investigating the Salmonella infections.

The items which were recalled include multiple salsas and guacamoles, and ready-to-eat items such as rice and bean burrito, spicy roast beef sandwich, and fiesta-style cooked shrimp for salads.

The recalled items were sent to stores across 26 states, including New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, Indiana and Illinois.

According to the company statement, the recalled items had an expiry date of August 16, 2026.
