Matt Friend recently got candid and opened up about his latest project and his future goals.

While conversing with PEOPLE magazine, the 27-year-old American actor and comedian, who garnered attention by doing impressions of politicians and celebrities, revealed how he is trying to excel in his career and change what comedy shows are like.

Articulating his thoughts on hosting and organising Bilt Neighborhood Comedy, a nationwide series of comedy events, Friend said, "Comedy shows are always the same thing — two-drink minimum, there's kind of mediocre food, you see the same kind of lineup. We wanted to create sort of a party-like atmosphere and it's exclusively for Bilt members.”

For the unversed, Bilt Neighborhood Comedy is a reward programme for people who rent homes. It puts together shows with both new stand-up comedians and famous ones.

Also, these shows are organised at popular locations in local neighborhoods and bring people together for a fun night of comedy.

Notably, so far, there have been more than 23 shows in cities like Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, and upcoming shows will be held in Brooklyn on July 16 and in Chicago on July 23.

"Anne Hathaway and her husband were there, which was very cool. I don't think anyone really called her out. I think she was very incognito. That was cool,” he noted.

Friend, who makes sure to give chances to newer comedians, went on to note that the top-notch comedians such as Roy Wood Jr., Mark Normand, and Marcello Hernandez have performed at the shows, and now “every comedian is hitting me up trying to get on one of our shows."

"I mean, I'm up and coming, I just turned 27, so I'm young, but I'm also now in a position with Bilt to be able to help discover new people and bring them into this network. It's very, very cool,” he quipped.

"I mean, now I've kind of built this platform and it's about I think transitioning to the next level, which in my mind would be movie roles, acting — and then bigger, larger hosting opportunities. Being able to be in a Netflix roast of somebody or guest hosting a late-night show... things like that are the things on my mind. These are big, big goals," Matt Friend shared.
