Trent Reznor just honoured the legendary David Bowie during Nine Inch Nails' headline slot at Open'er Festival in Poland.

The 60-year-old pioneer of industrial metal acknowledged the relevancy of their collaboration I'm Afraid of Americans in the modern day, stating it was a "privilege" for him working on the 1997 song, with the Starman legend - who died of cancer in January 2016.

In a rare address to the audience, he said, "This is the song we had the privilege of working on with our hero many years ago.”

"And it seems to be more and more true as every day goes by. This is by David Bowie,” the Closer hitmaker added.

Apart from occasional cheers from the crowd, Trent spoke quite little during their set on the Orange Main Stage.

March of the Pigs, Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now), Copy of A and Closer were some of their popular tracks that Nine Inch Nails performed.

Other acts performing at Open'er Festival included Lola Young, Tyla, and J. Balvin, Friday’s show will hold concerts from Little Sims, Muse, and Justice while Saturday's closing day will feature Wolf Alice, Doechii, Camila Cabello and headliners Linkin Park.
