Julie Bowen, the 55-year-old American actress well known for her role as Claire Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, recently appeared in an interview where she revealed her feelings for returning in Happy Gilmore 2.
During a Q&A session on the Inside of You podcast, Bowen expressed her surprise at being cast, saying, “I didn’t think they’d bring me back at all. I mean, who am I supposed to be? He’s got to have a younger woman in this one, Happy Gilmore 2."
Candidly, she shared to the outlet that she wasn’t confident she’d be in the first film either and thought production would end up casting a 'hot girl' instead.
“I read and they were relieved,” she added. “They were visibly relieved. I go, ‘What’s going on?’ They’re like, ‘Yeah, some of these girls are just so aggressively sexy.’ And I was like, ‘That’s a bad thing?'”
Later in the interview she mentioned that her screen time in the sequel is less than the original, but her co-star kept on encouraging her.
She said, “Adam’s like, ‘Stop saying that. You’re the heart of the movie,”
For those unversed, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to release on Netflix July 25. The original Happy Gilmore 1996 revolves around a bad-tempered hockey player, played by Adam Sandler, who takes his talents to golf to earn big bucks and get his grandmother’s house back which had been repossessed by the IRS.
