Savannah Guthrie has finally broken the silence on her "horrible" divorce from former BBC journalist Mark Orchard.
During an appearance on the Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky podcast on Tuesday, the Today show co-anchor admitted that the demise of her first marriage broke her heart.
“It was horrible and sad, and it broke my heart,” said Savannah. The American broadcast further revealed that it took her “years to recover” from her divorce.
“I’m not blaming anyone but me, but I don’t really want to get into it,” she clarified.
Revealing why she kept the details of their split out of her memoir, Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere, Savannah said, “It’s the one thing I didn’t want to talk about.”
The 53-year-old journalist said she found opening up about her divorce “too embarrassing.”
For those unversed, Savannah was married to Mark from 2005 to 2009. The exes have no children together.
