James Gunn just answered who would the next DC Wonder Woman!

The DC Studios co-head sat down with Extra for a candid chat and talked about whether he would be casting Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman in the DCU, since he had followed her on Instagram, causing rumors to spread like wildfire.

“I follow Adria on Instagram, but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman.'” Gunn said, adding, “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.”

However, the Superman maker clarified that he and Arjona have known each other for many years, and even worked together on The Belko Experiment in 2016, which he wrote and produced.

“We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her [now],” he further clarified.

Earlier in 2025, Arjona also addressed similar speculations in an interview with CinemaBlend.

She explained her bond with Gunn and said, “I love James Gunn. He gave me my first movie ever, which was like my first studio movie, so I owe him a lot.”

When she was asked if the popular creator and filmmaker following her on Instagram meant anything, she crossed her fingers and responded, “I don’t know.”

If Arjona does appear as Wonder Woman, she would follow Gal Gadot, who originally starred as the super heroine in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The 40-year-old actress then reprised the role in multiple DC films, including Wonder Woman, Justice League and Wonder Woman 1984.

The live-action of James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe will begin with Superman, next week, marking the first film in the Chapter One: Gods and Monsters series.
