Prince Edward receives warm welcome in Canada after King Charles visit

Prince Edward received a warm welcom in Canada as he started his official visit to the country, a month  after King Charles' opened Canadian parliament during a brief visit with Queen Camilla.

According to the British media, the Duke of Edinburgh left  for Canada on Wednesday for a seven-day solo trip until July 2.

The youngest brother of King Charles will perform a number of royal engagements, visiting several different areas, including Toronto.

According to Canadian media, Edward’s first public appearance on Prince Edward Island was on Abegweit First Nation, where he joined a drum circle, met with Mi’kmaq families and toured cultural healing grounds.

"The royal visit is part of a broader itinerary that includes events marking the 150th anniversary of the P.E.I. Regiment, which he serves as colonel-in-chief. But his presence at Abegweit also helps mend old wounds,"  CTVNews quoted community chief Roderick Gould Jr. as saying.

“It’s education through conversation, education through awareness and education through responsibility,” he said.

The Duke of Edinburgh also spent time meeting with families, learning a little about each person he shook hands with.

Express.co.uk reported that  Prince Edward’s engagements are part of an ongoing pattern, often undertaking duties where the King and his heir Prince William are unable to attend.
