King Charles and Queen Camilla attended Royal Ascot’s Gold Cup race, also known as Ladies Day on Thursday .

The royal couple waved to crowds from their horse-drawn carriage as part of the royal procession. Other members of the royal family were in attendance, including Charles' nieces Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall, and Zara’s husband Mike Tindall.

With fashion and millinery being at the centre of Ladies Day, British milliner, Stephen Jones said: “British millinery really goes around the world, and it follows horse racing. So, whether you're here, or in Paris, or in Dubai, or Melbourne, or the Kentucky Derby, that's why hats and racing go together and largely because of the Royal Family, and the late Queen Elizabeth, millinery really became a symbol of racing.”

Meanwhile, King Charles looked visibly uncomfortable in the sweltering summer heat as the temperature soared to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
