Michael Douglas is stepping back into the spotlight to present a newly restored One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
The 80-year-old American actor and film producer will attend this year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to present a newly restored version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a film he produced with Saul Zaentz.
Paul Zaentz, Saul’s nephew, and members of Miloš Forman’s family will also be there to present the 1975 film during a special gala screening in the festival’s “Out of the Past” section.
Notably, Forman’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest will mark its 50th anniversary this year, as the movie, which starred Jack Nicholson, was first announced in 1962 with Kirk Douglas.
Kryštof Mucha, the KVIFF Executive Director, quipped, “We are truly honored to present One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest on its 50th anniversary,.”
“The presence of Michael Douglas, Paul Zaentz and the Forman family will make this an unforgettable moment in the festival’s history,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention that the film won five Oscars in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director for Forman, Best Actress for Louise Fletcher, Best Actor for Nicholson, and Best Screenplay for Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman.
