Prince Harry’s desire to cling to his royal title for him and his children has caused a lot of questions to emerge, many of whom are from experts questioning his intentions.
Former BBC royal expert Jennie Bond was one of them and she spoke to The Mirror to deliver this claim.
She began by saying, “I really don’t understand why, having extricated themselves from a life they did not enjoy and in which Harry has publicly spoken of 'feeling trapped', they want to give their children the option of re-joining. It makes no sense.”
Because “who knows what’s going to happen in the future?” she exclaimed.
Regardless, in Ms Bond’s eyes, “it’s very hard to see how two children who are clearly now more American than British would want to change their whole way of life and become working members of the Royal Family.”
For those unversed, this is in reference to Prince Harry’s fight for his children’s royal titles. As grandchildren of the current monarch, Archie and Lilibet were granted the titles of ‘prince’ and ‘princess’.
Their mother, who has been barred from using her HRH in public is also considered a ‘Her Royal Highness’ on her eldest’s birth certificate.
In recent weeks there were rumors swirling that Prince Harry spoke to his uncle about changing his children’s name to Spencer when the British government was making issues with their British passports.
But to Ms Bond the ramifications of such a move would have been catastrophic at best.
“I think Harry has always been more Spencer than Windsor, so if he was ever going to change his name, it would be to Spencer. But this would be a final nail in the coffin of his relationship with his father and his brother.”
And “it would amount to a public declaration that he no longer saw himself as part of the Royal Family,” she also added in conclusion.
