Princess Kate quietly claims key royal title with William's strong backing

Princess Catherine had big shoes to fill when she took on the title of the Princess of Wales, which previously belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Notably, Kate has drawn plenty of inspiration from Prince William and Prince Harry’s beloved mother, who had been the first one to break the rigidity of royal protocols.

According to a royal reporter, who has closely watched Diana through her many phases, revealed how Kate has made the royal role hers.

“To a generation who are now quite used to seeing a Princess of Wales sitting on the floor with a bunch of kids or carrying out an official engagement wearing jeans and trainers, it must be hard to appreciate what a revolution the last Princess of Wales created,” royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror.

She explained that Kate has been guided by William in “extraordinary ways of the royal world” and Kate has taken his lead. Bond shared that Diana was very open with both her sons and despite losing their mother at a young age, both princes absorbed her values and teachings.

As for Princess Kate, she has been navigating her role with “also a strong character in her own right, with a sharp brain and a university degree to prove it”. 

This has happened over years as she worked on her role with patience.

Bond, who accompanied Diana on many trips, even said that she had “a sense of déjà vu” watching Kate on her solo Italy visit.

“She has identified her own areas of interest and expertise and is proving that she is very much her own woman in those fields,” Bond said.

“I think Catherine has a clear idea of how she wants to do her job and, as with her Early Years campaign, she is doing it by immersing herself in the topic so that she can talk and act from a basis of considerable expertise.”
