Discord outage confirmed: Here's what happened

Discord is down across multiple regions on Tuesday morning, September 15.

According to DownDetector, some users are unable to get on the free voice, video, and text service. The issues started around 10:00 a.m. EST and had about 26,000 reports as of 10:30 a.m.

The current problem is related to the app malfunctioning. The official Discord status page confirmed “session unavailability” and stated the company was investigating the issue.

Discord Support posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): “We’re aware of an issue that is interfering with connection to Discord. Our team is working on a fix, and we should hopefully be fully back up and running soon.”

The outage impacted users across multiple regions, including the US and UK. Some users reported the mobile app was still functioning while the desktop application wouldn’t load.

In an update at 11:04 a.m. ET, Discord shared: “A fix has been implemented, and we are currently monitoring recovery of services.”

For those still having trouble, Discord suggests fully closing and restarting the application, checking the web browser version to see if the issue is desktop-specific or reconnecting to the internet.

Users are cautioned against repeatedly uninstalling and reinstalling the app during a known outage, as it is unlikely to resolve a server-level malfunction.
