A female passenger was removed from an American Airlines flight in Miami after reportedly undressing and engaging in indecent acts mid-flight, prompting an FBI investigation.
The flight 1779 was enroute to Miami International Airport on Friday, September 11, from Baltimore/ Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Midflight, the flight attendants alerted the cockpit crew to a disturbance in row 9.
The lead flight attendant reported that a passenger in seat 9D had “taken off all her clothes” and was seen by other passengers engaging in an indecent manner. The message stated the incident had to be reported to American Airlines’ Integrated Operations Centre and that law enforcement should be requested.
The Airbus A319 proceeded to Miami without diversion and landed at around 11:23 pm – roughly an hour and a half late. Law enforcement officers were waiting for him at gate D2 and arrested him.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, their deputies arrived at the scene of the "disturbance onboard" and, upon discovering that it had occurred while they were still in the air, notified the FBI. It is currently under investigation by the FBI.
The airline and the sheriff's department have not provided any details about the passenger's conduct. The FAA reported 1,200 incidents of unruly passengers as of September 5, 2025, compared to 1,621 last year.
