Apple TV leads 2026 Emmys nights 1-2 with record 20 early wins

Apple TV enters Monday’s Primetime Emmy telecast with a commanding 20 wins after two pre-ceremony nights that awarded 102 categories.

The early haul was powered by horror-comedy Widow’s Bay, which received eight trophies, including guest actress for Betty Gilpin, plus casting, cinematography, production design, score, music supervision, sound editing, and sound mixing.

Apple’s Pluribus added four wins, while Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Palm Royale took three each.

Apple entered the race with a company-record 89 nominations across 15 originals, including three outstanding comedy series contenders and drama nominees. That breadth reduces reliance on any single franchise.

Second is HBO/HBO Max, which won 16 trophies, including six for DTF St. Louis, whereas Netflix won 13 and is out of contention to become the top streamer. The decision will be made in the main categories that will be awarded on Monday.

Widow's Bay is up against Hacks for Outstanding Comedy Series, while The Pitt still leads over Pluribus in the category of drama. Jean Smart from Hacks and Matthew Rhys from Widow's Bay are considered lead actors' favourites.

The win means great branding for Apple but no financial proof yet for Apple shareholders because Apple's $30.7 billion in Services business does not disclose any numbers related to Apple TV service revenues, number of subscribers, and content costs. The awards ceremony will air on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET on Monday.
