Taylor Swift honoured in new ground-breaking research about insects

Taylor Swift's fame has exceeded way beyond the music industry as she now has a new species of bugs named after her.

The 36-year-old pop superstar inspired a Swiftie, who is also a scientist, Sarah Schroeder, to name a newly discovered species of bugs with niche Swiftie references. 

Schroeder named the bugs: Swiftiephylus taylorae, Amator, Intrepidus and Poetorum, which is Latin for Taylor, Lover, Fearless and Poets.

“It felt authentic to me as a lifelong Swiftie to honor Taylor in this way […]” the fan noted, adding that the the insects’ pale yellow coloring and red accents reminded her of Taylor’s blonde hair and red lips. 

The news took over social media, as Swifties flocked to celebrate, writing, "YEEEESSS OMG THIS IS AWESOME," and "these Shiny Bug variants….divas!"

A third chimed in, "take a magnifying glass to the swiftiephylus taylorae..." and "Tloas shiny bug version looks a little different here," joked another.

While one cheered, "divas in STEM."
