Jhené Aiko is making her long-awaited return with a surprise new album.

The Grammy-nominated singer announced her fourth studio album, Westside Whimsy, on Tuesday, September 8, revealing that the 20-track protect will arrive Friday, September 11, more than six years after her last album.

“Westside Whimsy (THE ALBUM) out Friday,” Aiko captioned an Instagram post featuring the album cover, which shows the singer shedding crystal tears.

The 38-year-old opened up about the long road to completing the album in the comments section (Her last album, Chilombo, arrived in 2020 and earned a Billboard 200 No. 2 debut and an Album of the Year Grammy nomination).

“You guys so much has happened in the last 6 years,” she wrote. “I'm so excited and nervous to share this with you. It's like every time I tried to lock in, life kocked me on my ass. I'm so grateful that I was finally able to finish... love you.”
