Dyson Ltd. has launched its first foray into oral care with the CameraJet, an AI-powered toothbrush equipped with a camera and precision water jet technology.

Founder James Dyson, who noted that the product was developed over six years by 661 engineers and 30 dental professionals, said: “The gaps between teeth are the areas people consistently miss.”

Camera and AI technology

  • 100,000-pixel macro lens with built-in light for detailed oral imaging
  • Gap optical targeting algorithm – proprietary AI trained on 470,000 dental images
  • 28 images per second real-time analysis
  • 100 millisecond gap detection speed
  • Live viewing mode enabled via MyDyson app acting as an endoscope
  • Auto-jetting mode automatically fires at detected gaps
  • Zero image storage
  • Precision water jet

The toothbrush features a conical jet design that is helpful for wider plaque removal coverage and has lower pressure than traditional water flossers for gentle cleaning. The device is developed in cooperation with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Dentistry, aiming at “interdental spaces” where plaque forms first.

Brushing technology

  • Variable sonic oscillation
  • 69% more plaque removal
  • Dual-bristle brush heads
  • RFID-tagged brush heads
  • Replaceable brush heads
  • Sonic dampener

The brush also has a mouthwash system with a 12.5-milliliter built-in tank for mouthwash and an anti-gravity design that delivers a rinse in any orientation. It has 2.4 GHz WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
