With the start of September, the Social Security payments are set to follow a normal schedule, with most payouts to be sent from September 9, 2026.

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), schedule payments are based on the criteria of the recipient's birth date.

So, if your birthday falls between the first and 10th of the month, you are most likely to get your Social Security payment on the second Wednesday of that month.

And for September, mark your calendar for September 9, 2026.

If you were born between the 11th and 20th, you will receive payments on the third Wednesday of the month (September 16), which means those born after the 20th (September 23), as per the SSA calendar.

While those Social Security recipients who started receiving benefits before May 1997 are set to be paid on September 3.

Wednesday, September 9: Birth dates between the 1st and 10th of the month.

Wednesday, September 16: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th of the month.

Wednesday, September 23: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st of the month.

However, for Supplementary Social Security Income, a program which is also administered by the SSA, benefits are provided for those who have limited or no resources, those 65 or older, and those with any disability, including children.

These recipients get paid on the first business day of the month; in September, this is Tuesday, September 1.
