Prince Harry locks horns with security committee after ‘irrelevant' excuse

Prince Harry seems to be causing more friction just as he returned to Britain as his team issues a scathing response to Ravec’s new claims.

The Duke of Sussex has already sent a letter to UK Home Office Shabana Mahmood about his concerns over security and also highlighting how RAVEC (Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures) did not inform relevant authorities about the dangerous threats he received in 2023.

The security body, which also has representation from the Royal Household, shared that the committee was given “less than two weeks’ notice” and not the customary 28 days’ notice before his return to UK.

Harry’s team insists that they informed of the move as soon as was “practicably possible”, as they did not want to disclose the children’s school places and home location. Moreover, they also wanted to inform the King first.

Ravec stressed that it was not enough time to prepare, also given the fact that it was initially just Harry’s engagements that they had cover and not them moving back. A source close to the Sussexes told The Telegraph that the time was irrelevant and that Ravec has been “kicking the can down the road for the last seven years”.

“We have always adhered to the rules they set, even as the goalposts have moved along the way,” they said. “Playing by those rules has never made any difference. Despite the facade of a proper process, they have never shown any real intention of doing anything other than maintaining the status quo.”

They continued, “Geography was the backbone of Ravec’s argument for withdrawing enhanced protective security in 2020. The couple’s decision not to live in the UK was treated as a significant factor in that decision.

“That barrier has now been removed, and an obvious off-ramp exists for the committee to do the sensible thing: protect the King’s son and grandchildren.”
