Rockstar Games, after 13 long years, released the ‘Extended Look’ gameplay of Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix, captivating millions of gaming enthusiasts globally.
With launch less than three months away, Rockstar Games is eyeing only 30 fps, as the Netflix premiere has shown on August 27, 2026.
GTA 6's 27-minute exclusive footage revealed details of gameplay mechanics: combat, open world, story cutscenes, and more.
The gameplay footage of GTA 6 was completely captured on PlayStation 5.
Amid the buzz-worthy release of exclusive GTA 6 gameplay footage, one thing that worried the gaming community is a recent claim by a YouTuber who had a visit to Rockstar North studio.
The content creator, Davy Jones, claimed that GTA 6 is currently only running at 30fps on console during the development phase.
Rockstar Games lead developer and co-director Rob Nelson reportedly told YouTuber Davy Jones that "during this development period, the consoles are running the game at 30 fps.
'Or at least for now. It is still necessary to consult with the technical team to find out if there will be a 60 fps option at launch (or in the future.) Anyway, at this point, only at 30 fps."
At the moment, what we have seen from the extended gameplay on Netflix shows GTA 6 running at a stable 30fps with no noticeable drops.
If we keep track of past instances, GTA 6 with a 30 fps mode at launch wouldn’t surprise many, since Rockstar did the same with their previous open-world titles.
But the real test will come when GTA launches on November 19, 2026.
