Three Secret Service employees are put on leave amid allegations of misconduct, the agency spokesperson confirmed.
The officials from the Secret Service who have been suspended are said to have caused embarrassment to President Trump.
“Three non-law enforcement personnel at the U.S. Secret Service have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into potential misconduct,” an agency spokesperson said in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25.
'Per policy, this incident is being investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility,” the statement added.
The officials, including the agency’s top spokesperson, have also been suspended as investigators probe a series of leaks.
Though the agency did not provide further details into the suspension, a source disclosed to CNN that all three personnel belong to the comms office.
The source also added that during investigation, the officials were barred from using their security clearances or work devices.
The Secret Service has faced growing attention in recent weeks.
The assassination attempt on Trump that was carried out at a July 2024 election rally raised eyebrows about whether the agency is up to the task.
The second major incident came in April this year, when a gunman breached security and made his way onto the main stage at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
