Rob Lowe just gave an update on the much-awaited sequel to the 1985 American coming-of-age film St. Elmo’s Fire.
While giving an interview to PEOPLE magazine, the 61-year-old Hollywood actor talked about the next instalment of St. Elmo’s Fire, which chronicles the story of recent graduates and their challenges while adjusting to life after college.
Lowe, who portrayed William “Billy” Hicks, a frat boy who plays saxophone in the original production, said, “We're working on the script, and it's really getting good.”
“I think it's super valid to revisit those characters that continue to mean a lot to people and watch them navigate this chapter of life, because arguably this chapter of life is every bit as interesting and fraught as — 'What do I do when I get out of college?’” he added.
Notably, St. Elmo’s Fire, directed by Joel Schumacher, contains a special place in the “Brat Pack” genre, a nickname given to young actors and actresses who were in popular coming-of-age movies in the 1980s.
It is pertinent to mention that other than Lowe, Demi Moore, Atkins, Andrew McCarthy, Mare Winningham, Andie MacDowell, Judd Nelson, and Emilio Estevez will also be part of the sequel.
