Charlize Theron was behind getting Uma Thurman to star in Old Guard 2.
Thurman, 55, took a trip down memory lane in a recent interview with Extra, recalling how it wasn't just the action-packed script that led to her signing the superhero film.
"[Charlize] sent me a beautiful e-letter and I read the script, and the first Old Guard was awesome," Thurman told the publication.
Thurman went on to recall how she felt reading the letter as Theron insisted for their first official on-screen collaboration.
"I was like, ‘Oh, I would be kind of picking up a little bit of my old trope,’ and it caught my fancy. I was like, ‘I think it’s time. I’m gonna go support her and have a big old battle.'"
Meanwhile, Theron, who returns as immortal warrior Andy in the sequel, remembers falling off her chair when Thurman agreed to commit to the movie.
"We got on the phone and had a lovely conversation. It was this beautiful mixture of really appreciating the first film we did and then also, like just a real, sincere sense of wanting to support and wanting to collaborate with us," the Oscar-winning actress admitted.
