Matthew Goode has just opened up about his acting career journey.
While promoting his upcoming movie Downton Abbey 3 in a recent interview with Best UK magazine, he candidly recalled an embarrassment he felt in the beginning of his career.
The Hollywood actor stars in the historical romantic series alongside Lily James, Tuppence Middleton, and Michelle Dockery.
Revealing he wasn’t planning to become an actor, Goode said, "My mum was into amateur dramatics, but acting wasn't something I ever thought of doing as a job until I went to university.”
“I did drama at university and then a friend of mine, my flatmate actually, went to drama school, so I thought I would maybe just give it a go," The Offer actor added.
Meanwhile, the 47-year-old actor admitted that at the start, he found acting as ‘so embarrassing’ and felt shy in front of the camera.
Before concluding, Matthew Goode shared, "It wasn't easy because I was very shy when I first started acting. I would blush all the time, which was so embarrassing. But I stuck with it and with a lot of luck, it paid off. I still feel very lucky to do what I do."
Downton Abbey 3 is scheduled to be released on September 12, 2025.
