Brandy Norwood and Monica Arnold are gearing up for their joint 24-date tour, The Boy Is Mine, which is named after their iconic 1998 hit.
The R&B legends shared the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night June 25.
During the interview, Brandy revealed that the duet was inspired by an episode of Jerry Springer, saying “I was a huge Jerry Springer fan. One of the topics was ‘The boy is mine,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my God. Song idea. Let’s do this’”
Their conversation on the show hit many topics from their music journey. They even recalled their 1999 Grammy win. About it Brandy said, “I actually ran to the stage,” while Monica interrupted jokingly, “She left me. I was tiptoeing behind her like, ‘Girl, we just won a Grammy!’”
Moving on, the pair also paid tribute to their late mentor Whitney Houston about their late reunion, with Brandy saying “She’d be sarcastic, like, ‘Finally,’” Monica jumped in “But Proud.”
The Boy Is Mine tour is going to start in Oakland, California, with stops in major cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale June 28 via Ticketmaster.
For those unfamiliar, Bandy and Monica are a famous music duo, their song The Boy is Mine was a massive success which sold 2.6 million copies in the U.S. However, they got into feud shortly after their song’s release, reportedly due to a backstage dispute while rehearsing for a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
