King Charles speaks to Brazilian minister after William confirms first visit

The Buckingham Palace on Wednesday said that King Charles spoke to   Brazilian Environment Minister Marina Silva at Lancaster House in London.

The monarch met the minister at an event hosted by Environment Food & Rural Affairs, a government organization, which aims to look after "our environment, animal welfare, food and farming."

"The King also spoke to Brazilian Environment Minister Marina Silva ahead of this year’s international climate change summit, COP30, which will take place later this year in Belém," said the statement issued by the palace.

King's eldest son on Tuesday confirmed that he will be attending Earthshot Prize in Brazil this autumn on his first visit to Brazil.

The Prince of Wales said this as he took stage at "Leading with Impact" event, as part of London Climate Action Week.

Prince William’s 2025 Earthshot Prize will be held at Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro.

In April, William announced that he would take the annual awards ceremony for his multi-million dollar environmental prize to Brazil.

This year's awards ceremony will be held shortly before the UN climate summit COP30 which also takes place in Brazil in November.
