MobLand, a high-profile British crime drama television series, has been renewed for a sophomore season by Paramount+.
For the unversed, the show, which first came out on the streaming service in March this year, aired its final episode on June 1.
The show stayed on the Nielsen Top 10 Original Series chart for six weeks and the most recent numbers are from the week of May 19 to May 25.
Paramount shared that the first episode has had 26 million viewers since it came out, as users were counted by using “total global watch time divided by total run time in its first 70 days of availability.”
The streaming platform also said the show is now “Paramount+’s number two original of all time,” with only Taylor Sheridan’s Landman being higher.
Jez Butterworth, the show’s executive producer and writer, said, “TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit to a TV overall, but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios, completely changed my perspective with their bold creative vision and razor-sharp strategic insight.”
“Collaborating with Chris, David, Guy and our stellar cast has been nothing short of inspiring and I’m excited to dive into the second season of ‘MobLand,” he conceded.
It is significant to mention that MobLand is about a London crime family called the Harrigans and their loyal fixer, Harry Da Souza, who is played by Tom Hardy. They fight with the police and other criminals as they try to keep their power.
