Prince William and Kate Middleton have landed in a new controversy as the royal couple was slammed for being “out of touch” after their latest move.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are facing criticism from animal rights organisation Peta, which has called them “staggeringly out of touch” in a sharp statement.
The charity expressed disappointment over the couple’s recent decision involving new puppies as they urged them to follow the example of King Charles and Queen Camilla, who adopted their dogs from a shelter.
Peta’s Vice President said the move ignores the global issue of animal homelessness, adding that the Royal family should be setting a better example.
"The Prince and Princess of Wales should know that shelters here and worldwide are overflowing with puppies desperate for a second chance at a loving home, and that churning out a litter in the midst of this animal homelessness crisis is staggeringly out of touch,” stated Peta’s Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen, per GB News.
The statement added, "If William is going to lead, he might well take a lesson from King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have chosen to adopt from a shelter rather than contribute to the problem."
Recently, the Kensington Palace dropped a photo of William with his dog Orla and her new puppies on the occasion of his 43rd birthday.
“Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!” the caption read.
