Bryce Dallas Howard has opened up about her childhood crush, on Joaquin Phoenix.

The Hollywood actress dished on her affection for the Joker actor, on the latest episode of Podcrushed podcast, hosted by Sophie Ansari, Nava Kavelin, and Penn Badgley.

2004’s The Village, the 44-year-old actress and the 50-year-old actor starred together for the first time alongside M. Night Shyamalan, Adrien Brody, Jesse Eisenberg, and William Hurt.

The period-thriller movie revolves around an isolated Pennsylvania village where the residents live in a fear of an unseen creature residing in the forest. The villagers established an agreement with creature that villagers would stay in the village, and the creature would stay within the forest.

Admitting her affection for him, the Jurassic World actress said, “I had the biggest crush on Joaquin Phoenix when I was seven years old, and he was Leaf Phoenix, and he was in Parenthood."

Referring to playing Phoenix’s on-screen love interest role, she continued, “It was insane being like, ‘Oh, you want me to play a character who’s been in love with this guy, like, her whole life? Sure.'”

Showing gratitude for being casted in Shyamalan’s directorial movie, Bryce Dallas Howard concluded, “That was very, I mean, incredibly courageous of Night to cast me, and he was really supportive.”
