Benson Boone just talked about how supportive Katy Perry is.

During his latest appearance on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, the singer spoke about his American Idol exit.

Scott mentioned the time Benson realized he could sing, back when Lionel Richie called his voice a natural talent.

The Beautiful Things crooner has been singing for five years, starting in his final year of high school.

During the chat, he revealed the American Idol clip was filmed in 2021, when he had just been a year into singing while Scott reminded listeners that Katy Perry once predicted Benson would win the entire show.

“Do you want to know the actual truth? I actually think that she is really glad that I left the show,” the Before You singer discussed.

He continued, “She was like, really happy for me. Also, really worried about me. I think she understands that when you are starting to go through all of this, there’s just a lot of hate coming your way… She actually really is a lovely person.”

“She told me she was like, ‘leaving that show was the best thing you ever did,’” the 22-year-old artist recalled.

Additionally, Benson Boone also promoted his latest album American Heart, which is set to be released on June 20, 2025.
