Danny Boyle recently got candid and opened up about walking away from directing James Bond.

For the uninitiated, the 68-year-old British director and film producer was going to direct the 25th James Bond movie, but in 2018, he left the project due to creative differences with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

Cary Joji Fukunaga, the Jane Eyre director, served as the new director of No Time to Die, which came out in 2021.

Now having a conversation with Business Insider, the reporter asked Boyle if he would return now that Amazon owns the franchise, to which he replied, “That ship has sailed.”

The Oscar-winner went on to share his one regret about leaving the project in 2018 by quipping, “the script was really good. John Hodge (Boyle’s long-time collaborator) is a wonderful writer.”

Notably, Boyle had earlier said his story was going to be about a Russian villain and it would have also shown James Bond dying.

It is pertinent to mention that the same ending happened in No Time to Die, as Craig had demanded that ending in his contract.
