Prince Harry, Meghan Markle criticised for including HRH titles in kids’ passports

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have landed in trouble as they push to keep Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s royal titles.

Royal insiders have called out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for including “His Royal Highness” and “Her Royal Highness” titles in the UK passport applications of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Sussexes’ move has raised questions, as the couple gave up their own use of HRH titles and stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

According to The Guardian, Harry wants to keep the titles so his children can choose for themselves if they want royal roles when they grow up.

"I find this very hard to understand,” an insider said while discussing Harry and Meghan’s move with Daily Mail.

“Harry and Meghan apparently found official duties and life within the Royal Family unbearable, yet they want this for their children,” they added. “It doesn't make sense."

The report further revealed that UK officials delayed the passport process of Archie and Lilibet on purpose, taking nearly six months instead of the usual three weeks.

The passports were finally approved after lawyers warned they would request official records of the delay.

"There was clear reluctance to issue passports for the kids," a Sussex insider said.
