Britney Spears marked her younger son Jayden James Federline's 20th birthday with an emotional tribute on Instagram, expressing hope that she can continue growing closer to both of her sons.
"Happy birthday to my handsome young boy oh dear lord we have this beautiful thing called life in front of us, it's such a beautiful delicate thing," Spears, 44, wrote on Saturday, September 12, alongside a candid photo of Jayden speaking on stage at an event and a childhood snapshot.
She closed the post with, "I hope I can be the best mommy in the world every day of ur life!!!!"
Jayden's birthday fell just two days before his older brother, Sean Preston, turns 21 on September 14, and Spears posted a separate tribute anticipating that milestone as well, writing, "Happy early B-day to u as well…."
In that post, she also poked fun at Sean's rigorous fitness routine, joking, "please stop working out so much because your muscles r starting to scare me…."
She shared a throwback photo of the boys as children riding in a golf cart with their father, Kevin Federline, during a family trip, reminiscing, "This was in London, strolling in the park…. Preston absolutely loved London!!!"
Spears has been working to rebuild her relationship with both sons in recent years, following a period of estrangement that coincided with her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in November 2021.
Jayden has been particularly supportive of his mother more recently, publicly pushing back in July against an online conspiracy theory claiming Spears had died and been replaced by a clone, telling followers during a livestream, "I hop on TikTok and I see this one video that has 1.2 million likes, and the caption is like, 'The biggest theory ever, Is Britney Spears still alive?' Like, bro, you can go to her page and see her right now."
He added, "It makes me know that a lot of the stuff on media is exaggerated and fake. People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage."
