Prince Harry's fresh headache as video exposes ‘private citizen' treatment

Prince Harry appeared uncomfortable and flustered as a new video exposed the behind-the-scenes treatment King Charles’s second son received for an important event.

The Duke of Sussex, who has been in a row with the UK Home Office and RAVEC to get police protection for his family, had attended a prestigious event before his surprise return to the UK

Back in July, Harry had appeared in New York City for the TIME100 Sports Gala. New video footage from the red-carpet spurred reactions from royal watchers, especially now that Sussexes’ royal status has been reaffirmed as “private citizens”.

Users online pointed out that Harry seems flustered and awkward since he is not given any special treatment. Despite being the ‘Prince of England’, he is waiting in line like everyone else at the event.

“Watching this clip now, the Palace’s ‘private citizen’ clarification hits differently,” user QueenEsther said. “Harry is standing awkwardly amongst other attendees, with seemingly no one acknowledging him. A working Royal would normally have a defined role and engagement around them. And Harry himself looks so uncomfortable.”

They further added that it is possible that they decided to return to UK to have some of those perks back in Britain.

“When he left to be a Private Citizen, he was expecting to be making bank doing paid appearances and speaking engagements about environmental and social issues, topped up by passive income from his Foundation. I don’t know if he understands how it all went wrong,” another comment.

While, one opined, “I love this for him. He needs this reality check. He no longer clears a room. Zero pomp & circumstance.”

The video surfaced just days after King Charles had stressed that Harry and Meghan are "private citizens" and do not represent the royals.
