Fact-check: Viral video of 'smuggled' jets in Chaman is AI-generated
Two officials in Chaman confirmed that no such aircraft had been recovered or found at a warehouse in the area

A video circulating on social media claims to show a line of private jets parked at a warehouse in Chaman, Balochistan, after being smuggled into Pakistan.
The claim is false. The footage was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
Claim
On September 6, a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a 12-second clip purportedly showing private jets parked at a warehouse in Chaman.
“Smuggled private jets at a warehouse somewhere near Chaman in Pakistan,” the user wrote.
The footage depicts several small aircraft outside what appears to be a warehouse or storage facility.
At the time of writing, the post had been viewed more than 122,300 times, received 649 likes, and was reshared 96 times.
Fact
The footage was generated using AI, according to an independent media forensics expert, while local police found no evidence to support the claim.
Dr J. Rosenbaum, a media forensics expert at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), independently reviewed the clip.
“I can confirm that this video is AI-generated,” Rosenbaum told Geo Fact Check via email.
“The planes themselves show indications of AI as the wings melt into each other, and the background is incoherent at times,” the doctor said.
Rosenbaum also pointed to inconsistencies in the footage, including distorted objects and incoherent text in the background.
Geo Fact Check separately examined the clip using Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection platform. It assigned the footage an aggregated score of 83.5%, indicating a high likelihood of AI generation.
Geo Fact Check also contacted Chaman district police to determine whether authorities had recently seized or recovered any private jets in or around the city.
Saleh Muhammad, the public relations officer (PRO) of Chaman district police, said no such aircraft had been recovered or found at a warehouse in the area.
While the station house officer (SHO) of Chaman also told Geo Fact Check that police had made inquiries after the clip surfaced but found no evidence linking it to a location in the city.
Verdict: The footage is AI-generated, and there is no evidence that it shows private jets in Chaman.
