Palace issues surprise statement after Harry confirms first UK task

Buckingham Palace shared details about Queen Camilla's planned surprise for a special audience, along with an exciting video.

King Charles' office issued a statement detailing how the Queen made a surprise appearance at the Royal Festival Hall in London to read a historic letter.

The letter, which was written by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, was read by Camilla as part of 'Letters Live.'

Sharing details about 'Letters Live,' the royal family's social media team stated, "It is a live celebration of the enduring power of literary correspondence. Each show always features a completely different array of great performers, reading remarkable letters written over the centuries and from around the world.

"Audiences attending Letters Live never know who is going to take to the stage or what letter they are going to bring alive."

Queen Camilla took part in the show alongside other cast members including Jessie Buckley, Simon Callow, Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dame Harriet Walter, Rob Rinder, Sara Pascoe, and more.

Notably, Palace said that "Tonight’s show will raise money for the National Literacy Trust, of which Her Majesty is Patron."

It is important to note that Queen Camilla's update came soon after Harry's first UK engagement was announced.

The Duke of Sussex will participate in a fundraising skydive alongside fellow veterans in honour of 102-year-old World War II veteran Ed Marshall.
