Sandra Bullock reveals what happened when ‘Practical Magic failed

Sandra Bullock looked back at the time when Practical Magic didn't do as well as expected in cinemas.

The actress starred with Nicole Kidman in the 1998 film and believed people would love it.

But when the movie was released, it struggled at the box office.

“I remember thinking, ‘People are going to love this movie,’” Bullock said. “And then it got quiet.”

The film, however, is about two witch sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens. They come from a family of witches and must deal with a curse that affects the men they love.

Although the movie did not become a big hit at first, things later changed.

Over the years, more people found out Practical Magic and it slowly became a fan favourite.

Now, Bullock and Kidman are returning for Practical Magic 2. The new film will arrive in cinemas on September 18, 2026, 28 years after the first movie.

The sequel will also bring back Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. New stars joining the cast include Joey King, Lee Pace and Maisie Williams.

This time, the magic is already stronger, with fans excited to see the Owens sisters return.
