Vanessa Feltz has opened up about her 'horrific' experience on ITV's Celebrity Fit Club, admitting that she starved herself before her weight was announced publicly each week.

The broadcaster, 64, was the part of the show back in 2004, which was hosted by the late Dale Winton, who died in 2018.

The series featured celebrities going through gruelling diet and exercise regimes.

The famous faces included Alison Hammond, Coleen Nolan, the late Ann Widdecombe, Julie Goodyear and the late Freddie Starr.

Lifting the lid on the lengths she went to, Vanessa admitted she would stop eating or drinking anything the day before a weigh-in and then put herself through a heavy fitness class.

'They would weigh you publicly on the show,' Vanessa said on Andrew Gold's Heretics podcast this week.

'Dale Winton, of blessed memory, would weigh you and your weight would be announced to the waiting world. And so for the day before, I would eat nothing and drink nothing, not even water. And then I would go to a really heavy sort of fitness class. And then I would go and be weighed by Dale Winton.'

Vanessa continued: 'I'd be starving to death and totally dehydrated. So then I'd have a drink and a sandwich and then I'd already put back on the two pounds that he was just celebrating with the nation that I'd lost.'

The former This Morning presenter described her experience on Celebrity Fit Club as 'horrific, absolutely horrific', saying the public scrutiny surrounding her weight became so intense that strangers would even berate her for eating.
