Prince and Princess express ‘profound sorrow' on terrible tragedy

Royal family appear to be going through a tough time especially as King Charles continue to battle cancer and now the oldest monarch, King Haarald of Norway, is in serious condition.

Amid the ongoing turmoil across Europe’s royal families, the Prince and princess of Monaco issued a statement on another tragedy which has been taking place after catastrophic flash floods and mudslides struck the mountainous border between Nepal and China’s Tibet Autonomous Region on Wednesday.

In a joint statement by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, they expressed their condolences to all the lives lost and solidarity with everyone affected by the natural disaster.

“Princess Charlene and I wish to express our profound sorrow at the terrible disaster currently affecting the border between Nepal and the Chinese region of Tibet,” the English translation of the French text reads.

“In these painful hours, my family and the people of Monaco join me in extending our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and expressing our full solidarity with the Nepalese people and all those affected,” it continued.

“We commend the dedication of the rescue teams mobilised in particularly difficult conditions and hope that the search operations will lead to the swift recovery of those still missing.”

It was signed by Prince Albert.

More than 900 people are missing and at least 332 people have reportedly died in Nepal. Rescue operations are still ongoing.
