Princess Kate takes key step to secure Charlotte's interests amid big shift

Princess Catherine is taking important steps for her daughter Princess Charlotte as their family is set to undergo a major change with Prince George heading off to Eton in a matter of days.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to be ready to take on their destined roles “at a moment’s notice”, but are also making sure that their children are receiving the best of their childhood and honing the things that matter to them.

The 11-year-old princess has taken after her mother’s sporty side and William and Kate are both supportive of the move. According to the insider cited by Woman’s Day, the “proud” parents are happy that Charlotte “absolutely loves” netball.

Kate is Charlotte’s “number one cheerleader” and she “rarely misses a match”.

“She’s been playing since Year 3 and yes, it’s her mum’s encouragement that convinced her to give it a go. And she’s a natural,” the source revealed.

“If she’s not there – with a discreet security team – it’s for a very good reason, but Charlotte loves playing netball just as much as her mum did.”

The added that Charlotte’s popularity with teammates is unrelated to her royal title because she “truly is a talented player”.

Her “favourite position is Goal Attack” and she is understood to be “very good at it”. However, she can play Centre and Goal Keeper too.

“They like her in the goal – she rarely misses,” the source explained. “She and her mum still practice shooting goals at home – and Kate’s a formidable defender so she’s finely honed Charlotte’s skills.”
