Fact-check: Fake Geo News graphic falsely quotes Mohsin Naqvi on PML-N

No credible Pakistani news organisation reported Naqvi making these remarks during his address at the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026

A graphic designed to resemble a Geo News bulletin is circulating online, claiming that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during a public speech, accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) of being responsible for killings and bloodshed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The graphic is fabricated. The minister made no such statement, and Geo News never aired any such report.

Claim

On August 5, an alleged Geo News graphic began circulating online, claiming that Naqvi said: β€œThe Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has started killings and bloodshed in Azad Kashmir.”

The graphic featured the Geo News logo alongside an image of Naqvi and can be seen below.

Naqvi did not make any such public statement against the ruling PML-N, and Geo News did not broadcast the claim.

The circulating graphic uses a screenshot from Naqvi's address at the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026, held in Islamabad on July 30, 2026. Geo Fact Check reviewed the full over 23-minute long recording of the speech and found no remarks matching the quote attributed to him.

A Geo News spokesperson also confirmed to Geo Fact Check that the graphic is fake. β€œGeo News never broadcast such a statement attributed to Mohsin Naqvi,” the spokesperson said.

In addition, no credible Pakistani news organisation reported Naqvi making these remarks during his address at the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026.

Verdict: The graphic is fabricated. Naqvi made no such statement, and Geo News never aired it.
