Ryan Reynolds has opened up about a terrifying accident from his teenage years that left him badly injured and in hospital for weeks.
The 49-year-old actor shared the story during a recent interview with GQ, while chatting with his Wrexham AFC co owner Rob McElhenney. Reynolds revealed that he was only 18 when a drunk driver hit him as he was walking home in Vancouver.
He explained that he had been drinking, so he made the decision not to drive his car.
"I walked back and I looked at my car for a second and I thought, 'You know what, I'm not going to drive anywhere, even if it's four blocks home, absolutely not,'" Reynolds shared.
The Deadpool & Wolverine actor then crossed the road, where the accident happened.
"I got run over by a drunk driver after making a firmly positive and wise decision for a young, 18 year old male," he recalled.
The Free Guy star, however, added that he spent four weeks in hospital after that horrific crash.
"Spent four weeks in the hospital. Broke every bone in my left side. He hit me so hard, his car was not operational," he continued, while also thanking the doctor who treated him.
Blake Lively’s husband, moreover, earlier talked about that accident as well in a 2011 interview, revealing he was unconscious after the crash and woke up three days later in hospital. Looking back on the life changing moment, Ryan admitted, "Since then, I've been a rickety, broken mess."
