Morgan Freeman: Is he still alive?

Fans of Morgan Freeman have once again become curious about his health after his name appeared in recent media reports.

However, the reason for the renewed interest has nothing to do with his well-being.

Instead, it's due to a recent revelation from Oscar-winning actor Sam Rockwell. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast,

Rockwell shared a story about auditioning for a role in the 1989 film Lean on Me, which starred Morgan Freeman.

Rockwell revealed that he, Michael Imperioli, and Kevin Corrigan auditioned for a single line in the movie.

However, Rockwell didn't end up filming his scene, and the production team decided to pay him only for the day instead of a full week.

Interestingly, Rockwell still receives residual checks for the role, despite not appearing in the final film.

This recent mention of Freeman's name has brought attention to his current health struggles. In March 2025, radaronline reported that Freeman's shaky appearance at the Academy Awards renewed fears about his fragility.

The 87-year-old Oscar winner has been open about his long struggle with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes pain, fatigue, and trouble sleeping.

Freeman was diagnosed with the disorder after a near-fatal car accident in 2008, which also left his left hand partially paralyzed. He wears a compression glove to manage his nerve pain.

Despite his health challenges, Freeman is alive and continues to live with his condition, according to people close to him.

However, rumors about his death have long been circulating on social media, with some fans even using his appearances to mock the speculations.
