King Charles won hearts as he celebrated the success of refugee employment mentoring program at a Buckingham Palace reception.
The monarch welcomed the refugee professionals from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, and Ethiopia at the reception.
According to The Express, the refugees had taken part in a programme that paired them with members of the Royal Household who work in similar professions.
During the event, Charles spoke to the mentees and members of the Refugee Employment Network and also listened to their experiences and learned how the programme helped them get back into their careers.
Speaking with the publication, Jenny Walton, CEO of the Refugee Employment Network, expressed her gratefulness to the monarch.
“The focus of the mentoring programme is to address under-employment,” she said.
“We are specifically working with people who have come to this country who have been forcibly displaced, who have a professional background and are looking to re-enter the profession,” Walton continued.
“We had cybersecurity engineers, we had senior accountants, somebody who worked in a bank in Afghanistan and what we did was we matched them with employees at the Royal Household in the same professions.
"The aim of the programme was to get people to understand the pathway back to employment in the UK into their profession, and having someone who's working in that industry help them navigate that.
"We're extremely grateful to His Majesty for his leadership and committed support."
