Mariska Hargitay opens up about finding out about biological dad

Mariska Hargitay is opening up about losing her mom as a child and finding out about her biological dad.

Hargitay, who’s know for playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, appeared on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.

She recalled realizing who her biological father is when a fan of Italian comedian and singer Nelson Sardelli showed her a photo of him.

Last month, the actress confirmed he’s her father.

She told Alex she asked her dad Mickey Hargitay about it once, and he denied it.

“He was like, ‘What are you talking about? Are you crazy? That’s so not true,’” she said.

“I pretended that I believed him, and we never spoke of it again,” she shared.

Elsewhere, the actress shared what she remembers of her mother, Jayne Mansfield, who died in a car crash in June 1967.

“I have a couple of memories that — I don’t know if they’re memories or they’re photographs or they’re something that I wish happened or a fragment of a memory,” Hargitay explained.

“It’s been a life of longing for her and trying to reconstruct connection,” she noted.

The actress also referenced her documentary My Mom Jayne, saying, “I say in the movie, losing my mother felt like having a hole in your heart,” she said.

“I say in the movie, losing my mother felt like having a hole in your heart,” she said.

She added, “So it’s been a life of navigating that and trying to figure [it] out.”

Marsika Hargitay's documentary My Mom Jayne's trailer has dropped.
