Fact-check: AI generated video shows fake protest in Israel asking Pakistan for help

Both Attestiv and Hive Moderation found the video to not be authentic

Amidst the ongoing Israel-Iran military conflict, Pakistani social media users appear to believe the claim that a protest rally was held in Israel, calling on Pakistan to help stop Iran’s retaliatory attacks.

The claim is false. The video is AI-generated.

Claim

On June 18, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a 13 second video clip with the caption: “Now even Israeli Jews are asking Pakistan for help, saying Pakistan will save us and help us stop the attacks by Iran.”

In the footage, people can be seen carrying Israeli flags and placards with Hebrew writing, chanting: “Stop Iran. Pakistan, only you can help. Pakistani people, please stop Iran.”

At the time of writing, the video had been viewed over 96,600 times, reposted over 490 times and liked over 1,100 times.

There are also visible anomalies in the footage. Some of the faces appear overly smooth, a known marker of deepfake content, as identified by MIT Media Lab research.

Separately, no US or Israeli news outlet has reported any such protest taking place in Israel.

Verdict: The video was artificially generated and does not show a real protest in Israel.
