Meghan Markle got candid about handling constant media attention and shared a piece of advice from close friend Serena Williams.

During her appearance on the Aspire podcast, the Duchess of Sussex revealed a piece of advice that keeps her going despite mounting hate.

Meghan said she’s learned to pause and reflect, asking herself, “What’s the why?” whenever things get tough.

She spoke how she would “rewrite” her narrative and ask people to “tell the truth” about her, prompting host Emme Gerde to say that she must feel “angry” to have naysayers “lying about [her] all the time.”

“Is there ever a part of you that’s like, ‘Just leave me alone?’” she added.

Meghan said she gets through the “peaks and valleys” of her life by doing “a lot of self-work,” including asking herself, “What’s the why?”

“It’s happening for a reason,” she added. “My dear friend Serena [Williams] … she told me years ago, ‘A lie can’t live forever.’”

“Eight years is a long time, but not forever,” Prince Harry's wife shared.

She also spoke about wanting to be more “authentic” online, referencing a video she posted dancing in the hospital before giving birth to her daughter Lilibet on her fourth birthday.

“It’s also a really great reminder that, with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life,” Meghan went on.

“A real, authentic, fun life that’s happening behind the scenes. I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.”
